Supporting your digital journey

Welcome to our first SWAN quarterly newsletter. It seems like only yesterday that the new SWAN Framework was procured, but so much has happened for us all to be proud of. Personally, I am delighted to be leading the BT team that will deliver the world-class connectivity that the public sector in Scotland demands. With this role comes great responsibility which I know the senior leadership team in BT takes very seriously.

SWAN is our collective opportunity to make a difference on every street, across our public services and for Scotland. Investment on the scale that the public sector and BT are currently making is generational, and it is incumbent on us all to maximise the opportunities that it will bring. Whether it be improved experiences for children at school, more available and resilient connections in hospitals, enabling care in the community or acting as a catalyst for wider process transformation – please challenge us to get you to where you want to go.

I would like to welcome all SWAN members that have placed orders through the new framework with BT.  Members including Hillcrest Housing Association, Scottish Qualifications Authority, Skills Development Scotland, The Highland Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council, the University of Highlands and Islands and all NHS Boards and bodies in Scotland have executed orders for connectivity and many additional services over the past quarter.  This is an amazing cross-section of members from local government, education, health and central government and we are very much looking forward to onboarding you all to our network.

Aside from this, the BT team have in place all shared services that underpin the Framework, such as the service desk, internet connectivity and gateway access to PSN, HSCN and JANET, and now await the final connection of our network to the incumbent network so we can commence transition of your services. Many of you have met the key personnel in the BT team who lead the service, delivery, contract and technical teams – we are all here to support your journey to BT.

I would encourage you to visit our new home at swan.scot to see the broad range of services that can be procured via the Framework and if you don’t see what you need, please get in touch with ourselves or the authority. Let’s evolve the SWAN framework together, realise the benefits it offers and Connect Scotland’s Public Services. On a final point, I will be joined by many of the BT SWAN Account Managers at Digital Scotland 2023 at the EICC on Tuesday, November 21.  Alongside keynote speeches and breakout sessions, we will have a stand and Immersive Space for you to experience. It would be great to meet as many of you in person as possible. I look forward to seeing you there and hearing how BT can support your digital transformation journey.
